The London Commute.

Elbows out. Deep Breath. And shove.

Fighting to get on and off the tube is one of the most difficult things to do living in London. On many occasions i have found myself stuck on the train and unable to get off at my stop because my carriage is so damn crowded. Its so frustrating!

And if i am wearing anything else but a pair of trousers and comfy converse my life is made 10 times more difficult by making sure my shoulder bag hasn't hitched up my skirt, exposing my butt to hundreds of commuters (Unfortunately, something else that has happened to me on a number of occasions).

Living in London as a woman has definitely affected my wardrobe choices in the morning, and these days (as much as i HATE it) I have to say that i am dressing for comfort and practicality. Tube hopping, people pushing and long delays calls for those hideously comfortable pair of trackies and an unflattering hoodie to make life that little bit easier, and also to stop that weirdo you see in the morning perving on you for the ENTIRE 45 minute commute...

Although winter in London is one of the most beautiful things i have experienced, it can be a nightmare when it comes to fashion.

You leave the house all wrapped up in your over sized coat, hat and scarf, the works... and everything is fine and dandy until you are sardined between two other eskimo-like londoners on the central line (FYI - the stickiest and most humid place EVER... its gross) and you have the urge to take off all your clothes... and not in the sexy way.

Picture it - Runny noses, condensation on the windows and strange smells wafting around the carriage with the red-faced, guilty passenger desperately trying not to catch anyones eye surround you. And with not even an inch between you and the next person, theres absolutely no room for to scratch your nose, let alone take off a few layers. And even if you could where would you put them? Your bag is now sandwiched (with your hand still attached to the straps) between two strangers legs. And you dare not move in case you accidentally touch someones behind...

There's just no winning! If you wear lighter layers, you freeze. If you dress for the weather, you boil on the tube.

Today I braved it and wore a dress on a cold winters day teamed with flesh coloured tights boots and a hat and scarf. You wont believe the amount of stares I got and wolf whistles just because my ankles were out in the middle of December.

Winter is definitely the hardest season to dress for... so keep your eyes open for a look book on the latest trends, for those fashion brave days... or when all your comfy clothes are in the wash...

Or do what i did ...

Move across the road from work so you never have to commute again.
